I was searching for prompts today and I came across an interesting question-based prompt that I'd like to take a moment to address. The question (if you haven't already guessed) is if you could either have a pause or rewind button for your life, which would you choose and why? My choice would be neither, personally- but that's because logical thinking entirely discounts this prompt for me. Instead, I'd like to talk rationally about the two choices offered and why I'd rather just live.
Let's start with rewind. Having a rewind button for your life seems to be the obvious choice of the two, right? You'd be able to go backwards and fix your mistakes, or talk to a loved one who passed away, or better use your time... you may even be able to prevent a crisis from happening! However, when you think about the situation and take a rewind button for what it is, you wouldn't necessarily have memory of using the rewind. Much like rewinding a VHS tape doesn't change the movie it plays, rewinding your life wouldn't grant you the ability to make new decisions. You'd simply be re-living your past choices up until the point you started rewinding, and to me, re-living my life sounds like more of a nightmare than a dream. Even if this button came with the perk of decision-altering, I still wouldn't want to use it. My choices have inevitably made me who I am today, and I'd never want to sacrifice the life I'm living now and all the effort I've put into it for anything else. Now let's visit the pause button. Why anyone would ever want to pause their life is beyond me. You never can know when a precious moment is going to happen until after the fact, so it isn't like you'd be able to pause a good moment and enjoy it forever anyway. That would fall to the rewind button. This button is also vague- when we say "pause life", does that mean the world around us comes to a halt, and we're allowed to keep moving? Or do we simply freeze in age and productivity- or worse yet, freeze altogether? If that's the case, I'd definitely steer clear of this button. Hit it once, and you'll never be able to un-pause yourself! And even if the pause button was referring to life's daily events, I still wouldn't choose this button. Enough people get caught in the loop of their everyday lives without having a button to do it for them. To summarize- I believe this is a foolish prompt, particularly for logical people and experienced writers. It poses a complex question that really has no good answer- and that's why I wanted to give my thoughts on it here. - Maddie

Today I read a new book called ''Magic Tree House: High Time for Heroes. One day Jack and Annie went to the tree house. They needed to go to Thebes. They needed to find the secret of greatness. To do so they needed to spend time with a girl named Florence.
Along the way they had to monkey sit a baby baboon named koku. Soon they met Florence and learned the secret of greatness. Though before they did, they had to help koku escape some jackals that chased her up a cliff . Jack and Annie climbed up it and got koku before the jackals did. On their way down, they fell. Though they felt beater when they got home. Ashleigh Green sea turtles eat sea grass, squid, sponges, tunicates and algae. They mainly will eat fish. Hawksbill sea turtles have jaws shaped to help them get food out of reefs. Sea turtles live in almost every ocean. Sea Turtles have few natural enemies, sharks would be one but the turtles greatest enemy would be Mankind.
All sea turtles drink only seawater all of their lives. Loggerhead sea turtles and the riddle sea turtles have more powerful jaws to crush with. They eat crabs, mollusks, shrimp, and jellyfish. The sea turtle is large. It is also a weighty sea turtle with a wide, smooth shell. Weighing up to 700 pounds Green turtles are among the largest sea turtles in the world. They have a small head. Males are slightly larger than females and have a longer tail. Both have flippers that paddle. They paddle gracefully which make them powerful and graceful swimmers. I like sea turtles. I also like green sea turtles. I mostly like the green sea turtle. I hope you like them too. Ashleigh Hummingbirds mostly eat flower nectar. They may visit 1,000 flowers per day in their search for nectar. Hummingbirds come in many colors. There are blue, yellow, green, red and orange hummingbirds. One of there enemies is the Praying Mantis and another one is most likely wild animals like snakes, cats or sometimes dogs.
Other predators of the hummingbird are hawks, kestrels, tropical spiders, large fishes and frogs. A Ruby-throated Hummingbird beak is about 1 inch long. A Sword-billed Hummingbird has a beak that's 3 inches long. If you try to ketch one, it will peck you. Though they are pretty to look at. Depending on the species, hummingbirds can flap their wings anywhere from 40-80 times in one second, with the fastest being 90. During courtship, wing speed will increase further--even up to 200 times per second. A hummingbird's feet help them grip on branches and perch. Their feet are not made for balancing in the air or walking. I like hummingbirds. Most hummingbirds live in South America. Overs live in Alaska, and Chile. No matter if its a fat hummingbird, a little hummingbird, or a skinny hummingbird, I like them. You should too. Ashleigh Sea urchins eat algae, small fish, mussels, sponges, and brittle stars. They stun them with their spines that have poison. Their mouth is located on the bottom of their body. They have almost invisible feet. The red sea urchin lives in the Pacific ocean from Alaska to Baja California.
They live in shallow waters. Sea urchins do not mate, when it is time they all let their eggs and sperm into the water, floating. Sea urchins come in many colors. They come in black, brown, purple, red or green. If you find one, you sod probably stay away from it. If you touch one, you will end up going to the hospital. Sea urchins have spicks all around their body's. I like sea urchins. Though at the same time I don't. Sea urchins don't drink, they feed on algae. They also poke you if you touch them. Each spine fits into a rotator socket. Many people with reef tanks have sea urchins. They help clean the algae in the tank and off the rock. Ashleigh Some starfish species are herbivores some are not. The ones that are not herbivores eat mussels, clams, and oysters. The ones that are herbivores eat plants. Starfish are found in the Pacific ocean. Starfish (also known as sea stars) are usually located in the shallows. Both male and female starfish exist.
They breed by releasing eggs and sperm into the water. Starfish do not have gills, scales, or fins like fish do and they move quite differently from fish. While fish propel themselves with their tails, sea stars have tiny tube feet to help them move along. Starfish sometimes gather in groups. All starfish have shells. They eat at the central disc. Starfish do not have sharp teeth. Starfish can also be found in reefs. Starfish breathe though their feet. Starfish have tiny bumps all over their bodies. The Crown of Thorns starfish, the sun star starfish, the spiny sun starfish and the leather starfish are all poisonous. So far, the Crown of Thorns starfish is the most poisonous of these. Sea otters, manta rays, sharks, and seagulls eat starfish. I like starfish. There are blue starfish, red starfish, purple starfish, orange starfish, black starfish, green starfish, pink starfish, and lots more. Ashleigh |
