Bats are shy, gentle and intelligent. They are the slowest reproducing animal on earth. The only real harm in bats are rabies, and Bat droppings, called guano which is basically a soil fungus called Histoplasma casulatum.
Bats in buildings have also been seen as omens of lesser evils than death. Various myths relate that bats in houses may bring bad luck. It may be along the lines of something like this: someone in the house will go insane, become blind, he missing the next day, that a letter with bad news will arrive, or that the people in the house will move. I don't think this is true, because when a bat came through my air conditioner window, (every time I use my air conditioner, my window pops open) I did have to sleep downstairs, but after that, the bat flew out, and everything was good. Most bats like to live in tropical areas where the weather is warmer and milder. Bats' habitats include forests, deserts, grasslands, and even cities. Bats make their homes in all sorts of places. Trees, caves, houses, and buildings are all places where you might find a bat. In order to survive, insectivorous bats need insects to eat, water to drink, places to sleep and raise their roosts, (there children) and places to hibernate during the winter. Most bats feed on things like insects, and some even eat fruit and nectar from flowers, and some eat different types of food like blood, frogs, fish, and more. Nearly all of them feed while they are flying. They capture prey while soaring through the air, they snag fruits and berries while flying, or hover over flowers to drink the nectar. Ashleigh

Hamsters are not good pets. Why? Here is the answer: They are to delicate for young children to handle, and can bite to protect themselves. There is never a very good place to keep them. They can stink up there cage, and make lots of annoying noises during the night while your trying to sleep.
Hamsters eat things like seeds, grains, nut, cracked corn, fruits, and veggies. Wild hamsters eat very different foods then other hamsters. They eat things like insects, frogs, small lizards and other small animals. In the wild, the like to live in warm, dry places, like on sand dunes or on the edge of desserts. Hamsters were brought to the U.S. in 1936 from Syria. They were some of the first domesticated hamsters. Syria hamsters live from 2-3 years, and can live little more in captivity. Ashleigh If you ever see one of these fish's, I would stay at least a few feet away. Even though they are rare, swimmers have reported being bitten by one of these terrifying fish. Though If you stay a few feet away, they just stare at you. The cudas predators are sharks, killer whales, and humans, who hunt, cook, and eat them.
Baracuda's eat a lot of different kinds of fish by biting them in half with there big teeth. They have 2 rows of dagger like teeth for tearing and ripping things apart. There teeth grow to 1.2-1.8 meters. (4-6 inches.) Baracudas are found near coral reefs, mangroves, and sea grass beds. I wish I had more to say about this fish but I don't... There is a song called baracuda which gave me the idea for this post. I hope you all have a nice rest of your day. Ashleigh Because Ostrich's have soft, light feathers, not powerful strong wings, that most birds have, they cannot fly away from predators. Ostrich's have four-inch claws on the end of there feet, and have a kick hard enough to kill a lion. An adult ostrich carries about 2.2 pounds of stones in its gizzard (which is the second stomach). Since they don't teeth, they eat stones which help to grind their food when it reaches the gizzard.
When an ostrich senses danger is near, I flops down on the ground, with it's head straight, not moving, making it blend in with the ground. Wild ostrich live in ether hot savannas or woodlands in Africa. But you can most of the time find them in zoo's. An ostrich's diet mainly includes roots, seeds, leaves, though they mostly eat what ever is available. They also eat things like snakes, lizards rats, mice, and insects. An ostrich can run up 43 miles per hour, but sadly, I cannot outrun the cheetah, who runs at speeds up to 75 miles per hour. Ashleigh The kiwi bird is a flightless, almost wingless bird, about the size of a chicken. Kiwi birds are the only bird with nostrils at the end of there beak, helping them find food. Their diet is small invertebrates, seeds, and lots of different kinds of worms. They also sometimes eat fruit, small crayfish, amphibians, and small eels.
The Kiwi bird grows up to 14-18 inches and weighs up to 4.3 lb. The kiwi birds muscular legs make up a third of its whole body weight. According to San Diego Zoo, a kiwi bird can outrun a human. A kiwi's wings are very small, about 1 inch long. Kiwi's can live for 20-30 years. The kiwi is threatened by habitat fragmentation, and loss of natural resources, crucial to its survival. The endangered kiwi birds will only survive if humans change the ways they treat them. There are 5 species of kiwi birds. There is the little spotted kiwi, the great spotted kiwi, the north island brown kiwi, the Okarito kiwi and the southern brown kiwi. Sadly there are only 3 types of regular kiwi (the fruit). I would love to tell you them but I am to lazy, also that is not what this post is about. Lastly, here are some random facts about the kiwi bird. The kiwi bird has loose feathers, kind of like fur. It doesn't have tail feathers, though it does have whiskers, like a cat. Its sense of smell is 2-0. Ashleigh Merry Christmas everyone! Sorry I'm a day late for this post, I got the day off of school so I didn't really think about it until it was to late. Anyway, with Christmas out of the way, I can be exited for my next favorite holiday, My Birthday!
I think everyone likes there birthday, and I am extremely exited! I am going to be ten on January 18th. I'm sorry if this post is a little boring, I was just Informing you on the upcoming events. Because this post is so short, here is a quick quote to end off this post. "Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas." – Calvin Coolidge Ashleigh This is a quote by James F. Byrnes. He was an American judge and politician from the state of South Carolina. A member of the Democratic Party, Byrnes served in Congress, the executive branch, and on the United States Supreme Court.
Here is what this quote means. People are scared of the smallest things, take mice for example, Lots of people (including me apparently) are scared of them, even though they don't bite, unless your provoking them. Same with spiders, as long as you don't go near huge spiders, like a wolf spider or something, you are good. I think people should be less scared of things like that, even though I'm literally scared of mouse traps... Funny story, I actually got my toe caught in one, and I have feared them ever since. Yes, we all have our moments, but I don't understand why people are afraid of spiders. Ashleigh This quote was by Eleanor Roosevelt. She was an American political figure, diplomat and activist. She served as the First Lady of the United States from March 4, 1933, to April 12, 1945, during her husband President Franklin D. Roosevelt's four terms in office, making her the longest serving First Lady of the United States.
This quote means, well, the tile of this blog is basically what it means, "Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give." Sometimes, when I'm eating something, I let my dad have the last bite. I think this is a very nice quote. I think that people should share more often. I enjoy sharing. I think It's a good way to make people happy, and I love making people happy! (If you couldn't already tell.) Ok, here is a quote I will do another time. “We must give more in order to get more. It is the generous giving of ourselves that produces the generous harvest.”-- Orison Swett Marden Ashleigh This is a quote by Mark Twain. He was an American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher, and lecturer. He was lauded as the "greatest humorist this country has produced", and William Faulkner called him "the father of American literature".
Here is what I think this quote means. You can be kind to anyone, even If they're deaf, or blind. There is always a way to be nice. You should be nice to everyone, except robbers or killers. I try to be nice to everyone. I think this is a very nice and good quote! Everyone should be nice to each other. In my opinion, I think there should be less fighting in the world, and more people being kind. As usual, I'm ending this post with a quote I will get to another time. "He that has done you a kindness will be more ready to do you another, than he whom you yourself have obliged".~ Benjamin Franklin. Ashleigh "There are two things a person should never be angry at, what they can help, and what they cannot."12/1/2019 This is a quote by Plato. He was an Athenian philosopher during the Classical period in Ancient Greece, founder of the Platonist school of thought, and the Academy, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world.
I think that the title of the quote explains it what it mean. I still have to learn this lesson, though. I am going to tell you a story about when I got mad at myself in Uno. I had 1 red card left, and someone swapped hands with me, I now had a wild card, which I put it down and without thinking, I turn the color red. I got mad at myself. I think this quote shows more wisdom than anything else. A lot of people need to learn this lesson.I am going to end this post with another quote, like always. "Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding."~ Mahatma Gandhi Ashleigh This person is unknown...
This quote means that sisters are different, but that doesn't stop them from being in the same family. I have a sister, and, me and her are very different. She is a redhead, I am a blond/brown. She is 18, I am nine going on 10 soon. She is WAY taller than me. We argue a lot. But that does not stop us from being family. I think that this quote is weird, though a good weird. I don't know how to explain it so I am going to end this post with another quote I will do someday. "Sisters touch your heart in ways no other could. Sisters share… their hopes, their fears, their love, everything they have."~ Carrie Bagwell Ashleigh This quote is by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is an Austrian-American actor, filmmaker, businessman, author, and former professional bodybuilder and politician. He served as the 38th Governor of California from 2003 to 2011. As of 2019, he is the most recent Republican governor of California.
Here is an example of what this quote means. I sometimes go to tournaments, and compete agents other people. Even though, winning is good, It doesn't give you strength. If you lose, you can practice the part you messed up, until It's time to go to the tournament. I think this is a good quote. To me, It makes me feel confident and make me believe in myself. I think everyone should believe in themselves and never give up. That is my though on this quote. Ashleigh This is a quote by Chuck Palahniuk. He is an American novelist and freelance journalist. He is the author of the award-winning novel Fight Club, which also was made into a popular film of the same name.
I am going to tell you a true story, which will tell you what this quote means: My Grandmother, lived to 79, yet she made a lot of memories. That is the only thing that will go with anyone when they die. She made a lot of memories and got to see her granddaughter turn 7 years old, before dying. She also got to see her children (Daddy and my Aunt) grow up. This quote shows more wisdom than anything else. Because in the end, your house is not coming with you, your money, your food, your computer, or anything else, is not coming with you. Only your memories will come with you. Ashleigh This is a quote by Anatole France. He was a French poet, journalist, and novelist with several best-sellers. He was a member of the Académie française, and won the 1921 Nobel Prize in Literature "in recognition of his brilliant literary achievements, characterized as they are by a nobility of style, a profound human sympathy, grace, and a true Gallic temperament".
I'm going to tell you a true story, which is an example of what this quote means. We used to have a dog named Lucky. He was a good dog, but sadly died of lime disease. We were all very sad. While looking for a new dog, I kept thinking about Lucky, and his disease. Then, we found Jupiter. I was happy when we got him, he makes me laugh sometimes, and I love him very much. So yes, I do think this is a good quote. Before I end this blog post, here is a quote we will possibly get to another time. And I am sorry for not posting a lot, there is a lot of work I have to do, and I don't get to look at quotes that spark my interest a lot so sorry! “Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent.” –Milan Kundera Ashleigh This is a quote by John Lennon. He was a singer, who gained worldwide fame as the founder, co-lead vocalist, and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. He was assassinated December 8, 1980 and born October 9, 1940.
This quote means You shouldn't focus on sad or negative things in life, make friends with others around you and try to focus on the things that make you happy. Here is an example: My mom and my grandma are dead, though I still have my dad, my sister, and my friends! I think this is a good quote in many ways. You shouldn't think bad things. You only have one life, you should try to live it well, otherwise, you will not have any happy memories when you die. Don't live off of the negativity of others. I try to be happy all the time, so should you! Ashleigh This quote is by Marthe Troly-Curtin. She is best remembered as the author of the Phrynette novels, the first one of which, in an advertisement in Lippincott's Monthly Magazine, was described as "The Most Talked-About Book in London Today" in June 1911.
This quote means if you waste time, (doing something you shouldn't and like to do it) its not wasting time. You shouldn't waste time, you should foucus on what you need to do and not go looking at other things. This is not a good quote, in my opinion. Its not good to do things you shouldn't. I still need to learn that lesson. I'm always wasting time, and I want to stop, but can't. “It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace.” Ashleigh This is a quote by Mahatma Gandhi. He was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist, who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British Rule, and in turn inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
This quote means to be true to yourself. It basically means if you say smoking is bad, and then you smoke, you're not being true to yourself. I was not true to myself once. I said stealing is bad, yet I stole candy out of our fridge. (Don't ask why we keep candy in our fridge.) At first, I din't know what this quote meant, but I asked dad and he told. Now I think it is a good quote. We should all be true to ourselves. Even though you are tempted to do it, don't. I still need to learn a little more though. We all learn something new everyday! Ashleigh Happy Halloween! I'm going to give you some quice Halloween facts! I just got back from trick-or-treating so I thought it would be festive to to do this.
Halloween is an annual holiday that takes place on October 31st. On Halloween children dress up in costumes and go door-to-door trick-or-treating. Children receive a “treat,” which usually candy. Halloween has a few names people call it. It can also be called All Hallows Eve, Witches Night, Lams wool, Snap-Apple Night and Summer’s End. Though most people call it "Halloween". Black and orange are the colors of Halloween. It is believed that the orange color represents harvest and the Fall season. The black color represents death and darkness. One of kids favorite Halloween tradition is going trick-or-treating. On Halloween night children dress up in costumes and walk around their neighborhoods going trick-or-treating. It is recorded that children starting going trick-or-treating in the U.S in 1911. Trick-or-treating became popular in the US in the 1930’s. Dressing up in Halloween costumes is another fun holiday tradition. People started wearing Halloween costumes to blend in with the supernatural beings and souls of the dead that are believed to walk the streets on Halloween night. Ashleigh This is a quote by Roy T. Bennett, who died in 2014 and was born in 1939.He was elected chairman of the Ohio Republican Party in 1988 and remained until 2009.
Here are some examples of what this quote means: You can do what you choose to do. You choose your Attitude, Happiness, Optimism, Kindness, Giving and Respect, don't let someone boss you around, unless it's your parents or your boss from work. This quote is correct for many reasons. It is saying that you can do lots of things without being told to do it. I try to be kind, happy and giving! Everyone should be! This is saying to be happy as much as you can. It will make you feel better. Ashleigh This quote is by Maurice Switzer. "Mrs Goose, Her Book" which is his book has this quote in it. He was a writer. There wasn't a lot of information about him.
Here is an example of what this quote means: You are at a meeting talking about cars, and you say something weird, making everyone turn and look at you. That is what this quote means. It is better to stay quiet then talk and be fought a fool. I think this quote is correct. I don't use it much but i think its true. Me and my sister say some foolish things at each other. I say most of the foolish things all the time. Everyone says foolish things in there life at each other. If you get into an argument, and the other person says something that you don't have the answer for, just agree with them instead of looking like a fool in front of everyone. Ashleigh |
